Thank You

When breathing got harder,
When everything shattered,
You were there.
The current pulled me under,
But you were there,
By my side,
And you wouldn't let me die.
When I stumble and fall
You catch my hand
And pull me to my feet.
You shielded me from deadly thorns
That would have pierced so deep.
You pulled me out the first time,
And helped me close that door.
But now it's open, the demons crawl
To swallow me once more.
But you are here,
By my side,
And when it all becomes too hard,
I'll run to you and cry.
I desperately want to find a way
That I can pay you back,
But you want nothing in return,
So I give you this, to read today,
And remind you what you've done.
I fell into darkness,
And you brought me the sun.
