Sweet Summer Storm

Raindrops on hollyhocks,
And flashes of lightning,
Coupled with sheets of rain;
Some say it's frightening.
Take a look and see,
The sights of a sweet summer storm.

Crackles of thunder,
And large raindrops pounding,
Chirps of the birds seeking shelter;
Splashes of the puddles surrounding.
Open your ear and hear,
The sounds of a sweet summer storm.

Breathe fresh, clean air,
And petrichor--Rain on the dust,
Flowers who've now opened,
The dog races in, carrying his heavy musk.
Take a deep breath and smell,
The scents of a sweet summer storm.

Rain-flavored raspberries,
And air, freshly cleaned,
Rainwater running down your face,
And more, all unseen.
Open your mouth and taste,
Flavors of a sweet summer storm.

Slight sting of a heavy drop,
And the cling of your clothes,
A chilled, new breeze,
And the wet grass on your toes.
Reach out your hand and feel,
The touch of a sweet summer storm.
