Black night skies,
Sweet peace,
As I listen to the rainfall.
The turmoil inside
Brings up tears,
That escape,
Like the rainfall.
Deep darkness,
Taste of petrichor,
Drumming a rhythm,
To put me to sleep,
With the sound of the rainfall.

Wolf
Hey there, Wolf.
Come closer, Wolf.
Wolf, hunter, leader,
Come to me,
Rest by my side.
Mighty Wolf,
Won't you be mine?
Run alongside me,
Fight at my back,
With your strong body,
And your keen mind.
Hey there, Wolf.
Come closer,
Rest here, now,
Pressed beside me,
And keep me warm,
Keep me safe.
Come here, my Wolf,
And I will run with you.

Who You Are
Part I
I love you for your laugh,
For your smile,
And for your humor.
I love you for your loyalty,
For your strength,
And for your companionship.
But most of all,
I love you for who you are.
I love you for your tears,
For your tenderness,
And for your heart.
I love you for your courage,
For your valiant soul,
And for your iron will.
But most of all,
I love you for who you are.
I love you for your cleverness,
For your intelligence,
And for your wit.
I love you for your protectiveness,
For your honesty,
And for your gentleness.
But most of all,
I love you for who you are.
Part II
Who are you?
My ally,
My friend,
My comrade.
You are:
My wingman,
My right hand,
My battle buddy.
You are the one who has my back,
The one who watches over me,
The one who's there when I need you.
And I love you,
Because that is who you are.

Military Man
"I love you," she whispered,
As she watched him on the field.
"I love you," she thought,
When he scored the winning goal.
"I love you," she smiled,
When he asked her to the dance.
"I love you," she laughed,
As he kissed her, on the stage.
"I love you," she cried,
When he bent down on one knee.
"I love you," she rejoiced,
After they both said "I do."
"I love you," she told him,
As they had their wedding night.
"I love you," she grinned,
When the doctor confirmed their hope.
"I love you," she screamed,
As she watched him fly away.
"I love you," she whispered,
As she read his loving letters.
"I love you," she mourned,
When the news came to her door.
"I love you," she cried,
As she clutched his noble flag.
"I love you," she whispered,
As she stroked her swollen belly.
"I love you," she laughed,
When her boy's eyes showed joy.
"I love you," she thought,
As his duplicate grew strong.
"I love you," she said,
When her hands were pale and weak.
"I love you," she knew,
As she herself came to rest.
"I love you, and now I'm by your side once more."

Remembering 9/11--A Message to the World
Flags.
Flags at half mast,
Flags in yards,
Flags everywhere.
Remembering.
Remembering, as a nation, as a world,
Twin towers, 2976 lives,
Four planes.
Remembering.
And here we are,
Years later.
Still remembering.
"Oh say can you see--"
The towers fall.
Remembering.
Still we stand,
As Americans,
Tears in our eyes,
Pride in our hearts.
You aimed to break us,
Yet you made us stronger.
And we are remembering.
On this day,
Eyes turn,
Internationally.
Foreign eyes, watching,
Judging.
We know what we did,
But we did not deserve what happened.
And in your hate,
And in your judgement,
You have forgotten how to mourn.
So, look to us, world!
Americans!
Tears in our eyes!
Pride in our hearts!
Attack us, online,
Spit your words of hate.
But we are still standing.
The towers fell,
and we stand tall.
Because we are remembering.
We are remembering the lives,
The lives lost that day.
Maybe we have not been perfect,
But that is all right.
We have enemies,
Enemies who tried to break us.
And we still stand,
Americans--
Tears in our eyes,
And pride in our hearts--
Remembering.
Flags.
Flags at half-mast.
Flags in front yards.
Flags, to cry under,
For we are United.
And we are remembering.
Written September 11, 2014--13 years after Al Qaeda's attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, New York, USA. Gone, but never forgotten--Two planes struck the towers, one struck the Pentagon, and a fourth was brought down (passengers on board are believed to have overpowered terrorists) in a field in Pennsylvania.

She Stayed
She wanted to leave,
But she stayed.
She stayed for her sisters,
Her closest friends,
Who became her family.
Having lost herself,
Amidst hell's fire,
Never giving up,
Never letting go,
After her fight, she became strong,
Having won her victory.
In days of darkness,
She stayed,
To be there for family.
All was lost,
Yet,
Ever fighting,
Deep in blood.
Far was her journey,
Often painful,
Rivers of tears flow down.
Yet she stayed.
On she fought,
Until victory was hers.
She wanted to leave,
But she stayed.
She stayed for her sisters,
Her closest friends,
Who became her family.

I Am Real
Don't look at me,
For the person before you
Is not the one you want to see.
The person that I am
And the person the world wants me to be
Are very different.
One is real, broken, strong.
The other conforms
To society's demands.
Surprise,
I'm not perfect.
I have cracks in my soul,
And my heart is in pieces.
If you look,
You'll see who I am.
I am real,
I am real.
I have loved;
I have lost.
I know how it feels to stand,
Only to fall,
Again and again.
I know how it feels
To cry yourself to sleep.
I know how it feels
To watch your world crumble.
I know how to pick up the pieces,
I know how to save myself.
I know how to help you do the same.
For I am real,
I am alive,
I am raw and uncut.
I have been to Hell and back.
Forged in dragons' fire,
I am a tempered steel blade.
I have been forged, reforged,
And forged again.
The only way to make a diamond perfect
Is to cut it.
And I am real.
I will not fake who I am.
I will choose how much to show you.
But I am,
And always will be,
Real.
I am real.
