My Universe

Welcome to my universe,
Where dragons fly and angels glide.
Welcome to my universe,
Where you can reach and touch the sky.
Welcome to my universe,
Where hearts beat fast in tender love.
Welcome to my universe,
Where peace rules gently as a dove.
Welcome to my universe,
Where everything loves little me.
Welcome to my universe,
Where, to hide, I swiftly flee.
Welcome to my universe,
Where I can run, from the dark.
Welcome to my universe,
Where I can heal my broken heart.

If I Loved You Yesterday

If I loved you yesterday,
I will love you tomorrow,
I will love you today,
And I'll love you for all the days after.
If I loved you once,
I will love you always,
Even if you kick me,
Beat me,
Break my heart.
Because my love is for yesterday,
My love is for tomorrow,
My love is for today,
And my love is for all the days after.
My love is for ever,
My love is for always,
My love is for No Matter What.
If I loved you yesterday,
And you killed me today,
I will love you tomorrow,
Because my love is a promise.
My love is rare,
And once you have it,
It will stay with you.
If I loved you yesterday,
And you changed,
I will love the one you were,
And the new you just the same.

If I loved you yesterday,
I will love you today,
And I will love you for all the tomorrows after.
If I loved you yesterday,
I will love you forever.

Only Words

A million poems,
In rhythm, in verse.
To me they're a soul,
And to you, only words.

A message for someone,
Trying to push through.
But they're only words,
Though I write them for you.

Can't a poem hold power,
When there's love behind?
Yet for you, only words.
Am I wasting my time?

A million poems,
To you only words,
But I captured my soul,
And I wrote it in verse.

Call Me

Call me a poet,
And I'll write you a poem.
Call me a bard,
And I'll sing you a tale.
Call me an angel,
And I'll guard you for life.
Call me a demon,
And I'll only bring strife.

Call me a liar,
And I'll weave you a web.
Call me a weapon
And I'll make you bleed.
Call me a temptress,
And I'll break your heart.
Call me a monster,
And I'll tear you apart.

Like Glass

Crystalline, fragile,
Like glass
Beating its rhythm,
Keeping me alive.
Bearing unbelievable strain,
Then shattering, with impossible speed,
Like glass.
Break it,
My heart, like glass,
Quick, clean, cracking.
Spiderwebs dance through,
Like glass,
And it shatters,
Like glass.
Be ready,
To pick up the pieces.
You broke it, my heart,
Like glass.

I Stood in Silence

I stood in silence,
While you broke my heart.
I watched my fantasies
As they burned to the ground.
Like paper, they crumbled,
And to ashes it all fell.
The one time I let my heart
Go free from its cage,
I took the backlash.
And now, regrets throb in my chest,
Because I, staying strong,
I stood in silence.
I stood in silence
And let you break my heart.

No words were spoken,
I didn't fight back.
I stood in silence.
They told me I loved you,
And I denied it all.
You chose another,
And the tears keep falling.
But I'll stand in silence,
While you break my heart.
Every breath hurts, yet I'm still standing.
I'm standing in silence,
In screaming agony.
But don't you look,
Don't you watch me.
You did this, but I will take the blame.
Because I stood in silence.

I will not let this happen again.
I will stand, in silence,
As everyone breaks hearts,
As everyone gets hurt.
And I'll keep standing,
While the world crumbles
And while my fantasies burn.
I stood in silence,
And let my heart break,
But on we go,
And I'll stand.
Silence is safety, and I'm here,
When it all collapses on you,
I will stand in silence.
I'll hold your weight,
Because I forgive you,
Though I stood in silence
When you broke my heart.

Connected

Cords like snakes cross the ground,
Linking us to each other.
We're all connected,
But are we really?
Messages but a tick of keyboards,
Words, only letters, not voices.
Expression gone, pixels in our eyes.
What have we become?
With the rapid-fire of keys,
We speak to one another,
But is this a connection,
When there's a screen between?
Is this a connection,
When cords are always there?
What have we become,
When we can't hold a conversation,
When eye to eye becomes eye to screen,
Do we lose humanity?
A mouse in hand, moving with keys,
When you're naught but an avatar,
Is this really a connection?
When I see you, a character on my screen,
Who can you see? Not me.
Are we connected?
Are we even human anymore?
When accomplishments are pixels, patterns of code,
What have we done?
We can't be connected anymore,
When you can't see me
And I can't see you,
And even face-to-face
We can't communicate.
What have we become?
Not connected.

Maybe Sometimes

Maybe, sometimes,
You catch yourself
Thinking about me.
Maybe, sometimes,
You'll think about
My smile or laugh.
Maybe, sometimes,
You'll miss me,
And want to talk.
Maybe, sometimes,
I slip into
Your deepest dreams.
Maybe, sometimes,
You wish I
Could stay longer.
Maybe, sometimes,
You'll feel something
Much like what I do.
Maybe, sometimes,
You'll remember
I love you.

Moths

Open a door,
And they all flow in.
They're seeking the light.
Feel them dance
On your skin, in your hair.
Let them go.
They never
Hurt you.
Let them go.
Soft wings leave angel kisses
For us to feel.
Little legs carry fat bodies
Across us.
Let them go.
Cup them in your hand.
Let them go.
Why kill something so innocent?
They're not as pretty as butterflies,
Yet they do equal work.
Let them go.
Released into the night,
They climb, to the stars.
Let them go.

A Romance in Verse

I wrote you some poems,
A romance, in verse.
A story of love
And sorrow, just words.
How pathetic am I
To tell you this tale
In rhyme and rhythm,
Where prose ever fails?
A romance, in verse,
Snares my fantasy.
It's sweetly tragic;
For it cannot be.
It's awfully sad,
To tell you the truth.
This story should be
Shouted from roofs.
My romance, in verse,
Like Juliet, Romeo,
Will not end well;
Your answer is no.
You have no need
For a romance in verse.
You have your love,
And to you, it's just words.
