Running

I am running
Through icy winds
And burning sands.
I am running
Through stormy skies
And churning seas.
I am running
Through crowds of men
And fields of grass.
I am running
Through passing times
And waning moons.

I am running
From what we've done
And what we've said.
I am running
From creeping lies
And endless pain.
I am running
From broken hearts
And shattered minds.
I am running
From passing times
And waning moons.

I am running
To sunny hills
And flowing streams.
I am running
To singing souls
And growing love.
I am running
To open arms
And your kind voice.
I am running
To passing times
And waning moons.

Chase

Hey.
Turn around.
Look down.
I'm here,
Here for you.
If you call for me,
I will come running to you,
But I can't chase you.
I'm too tired,
Too sick,
And too weak
For the chase.
My heart breaks,
And my body aches,
And I'm not fast enough
To chase you.
My bones have broken,
My muscles weakened,
And I'm in too much pain
To chase you.
So if you whistle,
Call my name,
I will come running
As fast as I can.
But you'll have to wait awhile,
Because I can't chase.

A Poem is a Soul

A poem is a soul,
Written in verse.
With rhyme, and without,
The patterns of words
Echo the patterns of my heart.

Rhythmic patterns,
Simple or not,
Echo those of "me,"
They expose all parts
Of a young human being.

My poems are my soul,
Written in verse.
Patterns, free like my thinking,
Are the window in
To my soul, exposed, naked.

If I let you see
Deep into me,
Then keep my secrets,
Remember my words.
I caught my soul, and I wrote it in verse.

Taste of Love

All I want is a single taste.
A taste of love is all I ask.
Set heartbreak and pain aside;
Even true passion can be denied.
Give me a taste, before my hours have passed.

I only ask for a little,
Tiny taste of love,
Give my heart to digest
That which my mind protests;
A taste is enough.

A taste of love is not enough
To cause us pain or break our hearts.
Please, I'm not asking much,
I want, just once, to touch
The love that leaves me in the dark.

So just this once,
Won't you give me a taste?
Give me a taste of love--
A taste is enough--
Or wait until my soul breaks.
