Exchanged Words

Words, exchanged,
After a long silence,
Are the best words of all.
Words, spoken,
After a long silence,
Are a gentle, healing balm.
Words, shared,
After a long silence,
Touch an anguished soul.
Words, given,
After a long silence,
Make our hearts full.
Words, exchanged,
After a long silence,
Delay the bell's toll.
Words, spoken,
After a long silence,
Give our heart-strings a pull.
Words, shared,
After a long silence,
Change what was dull.
Words, given,
After a long silence,
Make our barrier fall.

Wings

Young one,
Find your wings.
Spread them wide,
Kiss the sky.
Young one,
You can fly.
You must only
Try.
Reach to the clouds,
Young one,
Though they're far.
Spread your wings,
Smoothly glide.
Rise high.
High above this pit
Of agony, of pain.
Young one,
Carry yourself
Away
From this place.
Go now,
While you are still strong.
Young one,
Find your wings.
Spread them wide.
Kiss the sky.

Secrets

There are Secrets in my heart.
Buried deep,
Too deep,
For me to ever speak of them.
My Secrets are my own,
They make me who I am.
They change who I'll be.
I want to open them,
To share them,
To tell you.
But I cannot, for then,
Then,
They wouldn't be Secrets.
I can never tell you all of my Secrets.
The Secrets in my heart,
But I can tell you one
Or two
Or three.
Perhaps.
Maybe.
Later.

Seeking

Seeking for a handhold.
A safety rope.
While climbing up a cliff-face
As slick as soap.
Seeking for a light
To illuminate
All that's ahead
And reveal my fate.
Seeking for a blade
To lash out at my foes,
I will pull them down with me
Amidst my deathly throes.
Seeking for a flame
To burn away my sin.
Scorch it, chase it
Cleanse me from within.

Touch of a Heart

The touch of a heart
Is powerful
  Is real
   Is soft
    Is quiet.
The touch of a heart
Is kind
  Is loving
   Is tender
    Is sweet.
The touch of a heart cannot be faked.
It means I Love You.
  It means I Care.
   It means Don't Go.
It means I Will Be Here.
     It means Keep Me Safe.
      It means I Trust You.
Never touch a heart
If you intend to break it.
Never chase a heart
To try to touch it.
If you touch a heart
You may never know.
If a heart touches you
You may never know.
If two hearts touch each other
Then it's called True Love.
If a heart runs away
Don't risk hurting it.
If you hurt a heart
Don't try to hide.
I hope you feel
The touch of a heart.

Sweet Dreams

Sweet dreams, sweet dreams.
Pleasant thoughts, sweet dreams.
Deep sleep, sweet dreams,
For you I wish all these things.
Sweet dreams, sweet dreams,
Happy heart, sweet dreams.
Peaceful rest, sweet dreams.
For you I wish all these things.
Sweet dreams, sweet dreams,
Warm bed, sweet dreams.
Sleepy soul, sweet dreams.
For you I wish all these things.
Sweet dreams. Sweet dreams.

The End of the Day

What does one need
At the end of the day,
When there's nothing to do
And nothing to say?

What does one want
At the end of a race,
When they might have gained pride
Or only lost face?

Throughout the day
When my mask is on,
I bury deep
My soul's sad song.
When the starlight slides
Through my bedroom window,
If you're watching,
The truth you'll know.
At the end of the day,
When my energy's spent,
What do I need
When my heart's so bent?
At the end of the day
Someone to hold me tight.
I only need someone
To say, "You'll be all right."

What does one need
At the end of the day,
When there's nothing to do
And nothing to say?

To Answer Your Questions

No, I am not okay.
Yes, I am upset.
Yes, something's wrong.
No, you cannot help.
No, I don't want to talk about it.
Yes, there is a problem.
Yes, I want to die.
No, I am not 'fine.'
No, I am not happy.
Yes, I am angry.
Yes, I'm in agony.
No, I won't let you see.

But if you ask,
Then I will tell you:
That I'm okay,
That I'm content,
That everything is fine,
That there's no need for help,
That there's nothing to talk about,
That nothing's wrong,
That I'm enjoying life,
That I'm fine,
That I'm happy,
That I'm calm,
That there's no pain,
That there's nothing to see.

Broken

I think I might be broken.
It's sad, but it is true.
I think it may be possible
That I'm really shattered and blue.
Happiness seems far away,
And I'm not quite sure why.
Everything has all gone gray,
Just like a stormy sky.
I think that I'm in pain,
But I have been left numb
By agony and fear so great
They scarred and struck me dumb.
I never asked for all of this,
But it's what I've been dealt.
My hand of cards is not so great,
And there's so much that I've felt.

What Is A Wall For?

What is A Wall for?
What indeed?
Well,
Walls seem to all
Lean on each other
Without much help.
Walls block out wind
And rain
And lots of other unpleasant stuff.
Walls are pretty friendly.
They don't get offended easily,
And they're pretty polite.
Some Walls are really
Really
Weird.
While others at least seem
To be relatively normal.
Walls are all unique.
Some are fancy.
Some are plain.
Some are funny.
Some are snarky.
Some are
Really
Really
Geeky.

But the best darn thing,
Oh yes, the best,
The best thing about Walls
Is that
Sometimes
When you get tired, and
When you aren't okay
You can usually find a Wall.
Walls are strong.
Walls don't mind if you
Need to lean on them for a bit.
That's what Walls are for.

Uncertain

A terrible trembling tremor,
A sinister shivering shake,
And
A quick quivering quake.

Step closer.
Closer.
Closer.
It's not that far.
I promise.
You'll be okay.
Jump.

No.

Jump.

No.

Too scared?

Yes.

That's okay.
Fear
Keeps us
Alive.
Jump.
You'll be okay.

Promise?

Promise.

Here I go. 3...2...1...
.
.
.
I can't.

Yes you can.

Can I?

Yes.
Jump.

Okay.
Now?

Now.
Boing, whish, splash!
You did it!

It wasn't that far.
You were right.

This Is My Prayer

This is my Prayer
To my Father above.
This is my Story
Of pain, loss, and love.

This is my Path
That I must walk alone.
This is my Light
That once, so brightly, shone.

This is my Pain
In my broken heart.
This is my Demon
Who lurks in the dark.

This is my Weakness
So small, yet so big.
This is my Burden
That snaps me like a twig.

This is my Tear
That falls without shame.
This is my Punishment,
For I am to blame.

This is my Pleasure,
My saving grace.
This is my Wit
To bring a smile to your face.

This is my Prayer,
My cry to my God.
This is my Story,
Laid bare, no longer shod.
